Cost Clerk Wanted

We are looking for an experienced admin worker for our newly created full time position of Cost Clerk.

The role will be based in our Oban office with on-site visits required as necessary throughout the area to provide administrative support to our procurement /site management teams on projects varying in size, complexity and nature. The role will involve:

  • providing support to maintain our goods procurement and receipting management system
  • ensuring materials received on site are appropriately receipted on our procurement system
  • ensuring that any invoice queries are addressed systematically and timeously.
  • ensuring that timesheets are submitted accurately and timeously to payroll each week by required deadlines,
  • collating approved timesheet information to payroll for processing.

Some experience of working in construction within the UK would be preferrable but this is not essential for the role. In addition, experience of procurement / goods receipting software or order processing and in the processing and collation of timesheets would be beneficial but training will be provided.

The ideal candidate will work well as part of a multi-discipline team and have:

  • strong numeracy skills,
  • good interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral,
  • good personal planning and organisational skills,
  • good attention to detail and drive to see tasks through to completion,
  • good IT skills particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • ambition and capability to develop further within the company.

A clean full driving licence is also required.

Apprentice Plant Mechanic Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice plant mechanic to join our team in Oban. You will learn from the best whilst working towards becoming a fully qualified plant mechanic.

As a fully qualified plant mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing and maintaining  heavy construction machinery, often using specialist equipment, so that projects can be completed efficiently and safely.

As an apprentice you will learn how to fault find, repair and maintain plant and machinery. Over the four years of the apprenticeship you will gain a good understanding of how each machine works, and be able to repair them on-site or access replacement parts quickly. Your time will be split between on-the-job experience and attending college to study towards gaining your qualification.

No specific qualifications are required  for this role but all applicants should have an interest in learning about plant and machinery and be willing to strive to succeed. All applicants should have the following skills:

  • Able to use, repair and maintain machines and tools
  • Be thorough and pay attention to detail
  • Able to accept constructive criticism and work well under pressure
  • Able to work well with others
  • Able to use a computer and the main software packages confidently

We are happy to consider applications from those who have already completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field as well as from those who haven’t and from those with or without experience in this field.

Plant mechanics need to hold a full driving licence and it would therefore be preferable if candidates already have a full licence.

We offer excellent rates of pay to our apprentices and this position is available for an immediate start. The role will be subject to a three month trial period upon successful completion of which the candidate will start the apprenticeship

LGV C+E driver with timber crane experience required

We are seeking to recruit an experienced timber crane operator for an immediate start.

The role would be based in the Oban or Fort William areas but could involve working anywhere in the UK.

Nights out would be required.

The successful candidate must:

  • hold a valid C+ E license and an up to date drivers CPC card
  • be able to get to and from the depot using their own transport
  • be able to work as part of a team or on their own
  • have good communication skills
  • be able to complete all delivery & record keeping paperwork correctly.

A basic mechanical knowledge to be able to maintain equipment is also desirable.
