Surveying Opportunities with TSL Contractors Ltd

TSL Contractors is a dynamic, award-winning construction and haulage company with offices in Oban and Mull. Due to the continuing growth of the company, we are looking for two talented, motivated and enthusiastic surveyors to join our busy commercial department. Based in the beautiful and vibrant Victorian harbour town of Oban, both posts will require some travel throughout Argyll and Lochaber.


Logistics and workshop technician

The Landscaping Centre (TLC) are an expanding landscaping company seeking an experienced and talented technician to support in the delivery of residential and commercial projects throughout Lochaber and Argyll.

TLC operates with several teams working both independent of each other and as a collective on large jobs. We strive to create cross functional teams and all team members have the chance to progress up our developmental training pathway.

We are a forward thinking company providing services in the latest innovations and products. To maintain and enhance our market position, our staff need to be able to learn new skills and adapt well to new conditions.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking problem solver with knowledge and experience in small tools maintenance and repair and plant operation. The right candidate will be highly organised and able to plan ahead to support operations across multiple teams. You will supply the teams with company assets in a serviceable condition or outsource assets from preferred suppliers.

This role involves various responsibilities including:

  • Efficient and effective daily planning, organising and prioritisation of tools, equipment and resources for each team leader’s job
  • Liaising daily with managers to monitor operational requirements
  • Monitoring stock levels and re-order through the purchasing department as required.
  • Pick-up and delivery of stock, parts, materials etc. to maintain the effectiveness of each landscaping team.
  • Organising and supervising planned maintenance
  • Using knowledge and experience and initiative to resolve routine and sometimes complex non-standard technical queries and problems
  • Using verbal, drawn or written means to evaluate and find solutions to malfunctions in the workshop equipment,
  • Repairing broken or faulty equipment where possible
  • Identifying maintenance required
  • Plant operation where required.

Requirements

  • Full driving license
  • Be self-motivated, positive and passionate about your work at all times.
  • Work in a clean and efficient manner with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience with plant operations

Desirable

  • Proven experience of working within a relevant environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing at all levels.
  • ROLO or CSCS certification.
  • Competence with mobile phone based software.
  • Literacy in IT
  • Plant tickets

Quantity Surveyor

Working within a small team of surveyors the role will pro-actively support our commercial manager with the management of a varied portfolio of projects from inception through to completion.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong technical knowledge and commercial awareness,
  • A relevant QS qualification
  • Previous experience of working in a similar role within the construction industry
  • A customer-focused approach
  • Excellent communication, organisational and negotiation skills;
  • Superb attention to detail and quality
  • he ability to work effectively under pressure
